Home Place
(Oil:24x36)
Home Place

This painting is from a memory. It is how I remember the shack my brother lived in when he was a ranch foreman. It is how I see it in my mind today. I remember visiting him there as a young boy. I have no idea why the location was called Home Place.
I recall one time when it was time for lunch; my brother walked me into his shack and sat me at his table. From a shelf, he took a can of pork n beans, one of corn, and another of some green vegetable which most likely was peas. He opened all the cans and poured the contents into one pot which he heated over a stove that burned butane. He served the meal with slices of white bread and a cold drink. To me, it was the best meal I ever had.
